A women's photoshoot - 6 questions and answers

Natalia Nitecka

You think a women’s photoshoot (also called a boudoir or sensual session) might be a good idea for you, but you have your doubts? In this short piece I’ll try to answer all the questions that might come up, and I also show photos from a session like this.

Will my imperfections show in the photos?

I love taking natural photos where you see yourself, not some woman straight out of a retouching program. That said, the right light, the camera angle or the way your body is positioned can be our ally. Sometimes it’s enough to straighten your back or gently arch your hip to look beautiful.

There are plenty of clips online showing how to pose - try practising a little in front of the mirror, so you feel more confident later on. I try to keep retouching in moderation, so the photos look lovely but don’t stray glaringly far from reality.

Do I have to undress?

That’s entirely up to you. The photos can even be in a ski suit if that’s what you feel like. Femininity isn’t necessarily nudity. It’s a good idea to start the session with a few clothed shots, and once you’ve grown comfortable with me and the camera, to go further.

It’s great if you think about the photos you’d like to have and tell me about them, so I can make your wish come true! I’m happy to advise on choosing an outfit, but the most important thing is that you feel good. There’s nothing stopping us from shooting in several outfits.

Will my photos be published?

On this front I act in line with the law and my own conscience. I never publish photos without the consent of the people in them. It’s worth thinking, even before the session, about how you feel about giving consent. And even if you see no reason against it, you’ll see the photos yourself first before you make your final decision.

Where does a session like this take place?

I choose the place to fit the date and the character of the photos - an intimate studio, your own space, or an outdoor location. I work in Warsaw and the surrounding area, but if you’re from another city, just ask - I may be able to come to you.

I can’t pose, I look bad in photos, I’m too…

I know that a camera often causes discomfort. I have flaws I’d rather not have too. But whenever I do step over to the other side of the lens, afterwards I’m glad I pushed myself and have some nice photos to remember it by.

It turns out that a tummy shows the most when you look at it from above - luckily the photographer has a different perspective ;) As for stretch marks, spots and wrinkles, those are little things that are practically invisible in full-body shots. And if you’d like, my makeup artist can take care of them accordingly.

I already wrote a little about posing at the start of this text, but I’ll definitely help with it if the need arises. Usually it turns out you’re doing wonderfully, and I’ll only occasionally ask for a slight turn or for you to lift your head.

If you have any questions, or you’d like to book with me, do get in touch. You’ll find more of my work in the portfolio.
